The Miller family has four generations living in Sweetwater

Sandy and her husband had lived in Sweetwater for just over a year when they suddenly needed to build a new home to accommodate Sandy’s 85-year-old mother, who relocated from Arizona to live with them.

Building another home anywhere else but Sweetwater never even occurred to the Millers, for three reasons.

First, their daughter, Hilary, and her husband had since moved to Sweetwater, buying a home on the same street.

Second, the Millers had already fallen in love with Sweetwater, even before they moved into their first home in the community.

“We’ve moved quite a few times, and I‘ve come to know that ‘aha’ feeling when you find the right new place,” Sandy says. “I felt immediately at home at Sweetwater, with the beautiful Hill Country views, the layout of the community and the amenities. Everyone here is also very friendly.”

Third, the Millers were immediately impressed when they walked into Chesmar’s model home for the first time, and found that the builder was willing to make several changes to the floor plan they wanted.

When it came time to build their second new home in Sweetwater, the Millers stayed with Chesmar, this time opting for the one-story Branford plan, and again customizing it to suit their needs.

To provide an easily accessible bedroom suite for Sandy’s mother, Phyllis, Chesmar reconfigured the layout of one of the plan’s four bedrooms. The builder is also enlarging the pantry, adding a doggy door, and customizing the layout of the primary bathroom to provide more vanity and cabinet space.

Instead of a dining room, the Millers are opting for a study with French doors, which will be perfect for Sandy’s husband on the days he works for homes. He is also named Sandy, and sometimes goes by Mr. Sandy to avoid confusion in the family.

“We have built several completely custom homes before, and I would call this semi-custom. Chesmar has been very willing to listen to our preferences and change their designs to accommodate us,” Sandy says.

The Millers will also enjoy a greenbelt homesite in one of Sweetwater’s newest neighborhoods, and the Branford includes a spacious outdoor living area where they can enjoy the view.

When they move into their new home, Sandy, Mr. Sandy and Phyllis will be a little bit farther from Hilary and her family, but the move will be worth it.

“Our daughter’s first child was born last fall, so now we have four generations living in Sweetwater, just a few minutes apart,” Sandy says.
