5 great plans for entertaining
Entertaining is one of the joys of life, especially when you have a new home and you want to show it off to friends and family.
Here are 5 of Sweetwater’s best floor plans for different kinds of entertaining. Video tours, virtual walkthroughs and photo galleries are available at most of the links, so you can easily imagine yourself entertaining in these sociable floor plans.
Outdoor entertaining. Covered patios, walled-in courtyards and other outdoor living areas have never been more popular, and the Hill Country’s mild winters allow you to enjoy these spaces many months out of the year. One of the most creative outdoor living spaces we’ve seen in a long time is the upstairs balcony in Pulte’s Nelson model home in Sweetwater. It offers plenty of space for a conversational seating area plus a dining table, along with the incredible views that come from being up so high.
Movie night. Every night can be movie night in Westin’s Carter III model home, thanks to its spacious media room. The multi-level floor allows stadium-style seating arrangements, and the media wall built-in can handle the largest of today’s big-screen TVs. Available Surround Sound wiring, a wet bar for drinks and snacks, and dramatic sconce lighting complete this at-home multiplex experience.
Cooking demos. When you want to show off your cooking skills, or perhaps offer a cooking lesson, open gourmet kitchens like the one in Chesmar’s Ryder model home are perfect for bringing everyone together without crowding. The work areas and traffic flow of this model home kitchen are thoughtfully designed for function, while the granite countertops, tumbled tile backsplash and other designer features let you cook in style.
Formal dinners. Although most of us eat casual nowadays, there are still times when a formal sit-down dinner is the perfect way to celebrate. With its unique half-wall between the dining room and kitchen, Perry’s Design 1950 model shows how today’s plans can be relaxed and formal at the same time. This half-wall hides any clutter in the kitchen while keeping the host in sight of the guests. When dinner’s over, it’s easy to retire to a living area to keep the party going.
Game night. Whether it’s pool, foosball, card and board games – or all of the above – there’s nothing like game night to bring family and friends together for a fun evening. While most plans offer game rooms upstairs, Perry’s Design 3435 model home shows how an open one-story floor plan can also incorporate a gameroom. The French doors can open and close depending on what else is going on in the house, and the kitchen is close by for making and serving snacks.
