5 features to love in Chesmar’s new model home in Sweetwater
One of three model homes opened this summer in Sweetwater’s Llano Terrace neighborhood, Chesmar’s Owen model home is filled with terrific design features – from dramatic wall treatments in several rooms, to an amazing patio that combines covered and open-air spaces.
It wasn’t easy picking just our top 5 favorite design features, but here they are. We invite you to visit this beautifully decorated model home in person to pick out your own things to love You can take a virtual tour right now, and here’s the floor plan.
The great outdoors
From front to back, the Owen celebrates Sweetwater’s beautiful Hill Country environment. The stone exterior evokes the casual Austin lifestyle, with an archway framing the welcoming front porch. Out back, the spacious outdoor living area includes a covered patio and an open-air deck with a firepit and built-in seating. It’s an ideal place to enjoy the view homesites available in Llano Terrace. The stone retaining wall you’ll see in the backyard is another sign of Sweetwater’s scenic Hill Country topography.
Walls that wow
Starting at the front door, the Owen is filled with creative wall treatments that add drama, texture and visual appeal. The foyer has an accent wall clad in natural wood shiplap siding, a rustic contrast to the painted walls. The study has classic white wainscoting, and the owner’s suite has floor-to-ceiling mirrors on either side of the bed. The dining area has a unique “picket fence” wall design, and the upstairs gameroom has a striking 3D wall treatment that reminds us of bowling pins. And don’t forget to look up, especially in the foyer, as some of the ceiling details are wonderful as well.
Sliding barn door
We’re still in love with sliding barn doors, especially if they fit the space by enhancing function and adding visual interest. That’s true of the sliding barn door in the owner’s suite, separating the bedroom and bathroom areas. With its deep navy color and handcrafted wrought iron hardware, this is an elegant dressed-up version of the classic barn door.
With so many of us working from home these days, studies are one of the most sought-after features in new homes. The Owen makes working from home a joy, with French doors and a transom-topped window that let in plenty of natural light. The white wainscoting adds an elegant touch you’ll want to show off in Zoom calls, and the two-tone coffered ceiling is a secret you can keep for yourself.
The Owen’s gourmet kitchen has a huge wedge-shaped island with a sink, undercounter cabinet space, and a breakfast bar that can easily accommodate four or more. The crisp white subway tile used for the backsplash also decorates the family room’s corner fireplace, bringing this open family gathering area together. Just off of the kitchen is a spacious laundry room with plenty of storage space.
