Exciting lineup of Families in Nature events planned for Sweetwater

Sweetwater has an exciting lineup of nature-focused activities coming up in the next few months, as part of our partnership with Austin’s Families in Nature, an affiliate of the Children in Nature Collaborative of Austin (CiNCA).

Here’s what’s coming up:

Nov. 9 – Scavenger Hunt at Sweetwater Park. Parents and kiddos will hunt for a variety of nature-focused items around the park and the Sweetwater Club. From 3-4:30 p.m.

Nov. 20 – Literature in the Garden. Families will meet at the Sunset Pavilion to enjoy a story and make a craft. From 2-3:30 p.m.

Dec. 10 – Birding with a Naturalist. This naturalist-led hike along the Sweetwater trail system will help residents learn about the many species of birds that live in and migrate through the community. From 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

December 18 – Winter Crafting. Join neighbors for fun winter crafts at the Sweetwater Club. From 3-5 p.m.

January 13 – Stargazing & S’mores. Join the Austin Astronomical Society for a Star Party that’s out of this world. From 6:30-9:30 p.m.

January 28 – Geocaching & Letterboxing. Older kiddos and families will participate in geocaching, while letterboxing is for the littlest ones and lots of fun. From 2-4 p.m.

February 5 – Groundhog Day Literature in the Garden. Enjoy a story and craft in he Sunset Pavilion. Time TBA.

February 19 – Birds of Prey Visit Sweetwater. Join neighbors at the Sweetwater Club for a fascinating expert-guided demo on hawks and other birds of prey. From 3-5 p.m.

Sweetwater’s partnership with Families in Nature is designed to encourage residents of all ages to more fully experience the 700 acres of parks, trails and natural open spaces in the community and the surrounding Hill Country.
