Lakeway hospital growing, thriving as part of Baylor Scott & White system

Located just five miles from Sweetwater’s main entrance, Lakeway Regional Medical Center has new signs bearing its new name: Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Lakeway. This state-of-the-art hospital also has a bright new future, as part of Texas’ largest not-for-profit health system.

“Bringing our brand’s vision and promise to our friends in the Lakeway community is important to us,” said Jay Fox, president of Baylor Scott & White for the Austin region. “Becoming partners in the health of this community is our mission. Together, we’ll work to engage Lakeway and surrounding communities to identify ways to improve overall health and wellness, for both the near future and for the generations to come.”

“This is an exceptional moment for our hospital,” Lakeway Regional CEO Philippe Bochaton said. “Transforming Lakeway Regional into the Baylor Scott & White system is a significant step forward that will directly benefit patients, physicians, employees and the health of our community.”

The new ownership offers many advantages for medical staff, caregivers and patients, including access to clinical quality resources, investments in facility and medical equipment upgrades, and training resources.

Founded in 2012 to serve the Texas Hill Country, the Lakeway hospital is a 106-bed, full-service, state-of-the-art medical campus with 300 affiliated physicians and 450 employee. Services include emergency medicine, neurosurgery, orthopedics, neurology, cardiology, general surgery, gastroenterology and women’s health.

Baylor Scott & White Health was created in the 2013 merger between Baylor Health Care System and Scott & White Healthcare. With total assets of $9 billion and serving a population larger than the state of Georgia, the system includes 46 hospitals, more than 900 access points, 6,000 active physicians and 44,000 employees.
